Light At The End Of A Remodel

by Marten

Walking into our most recent project, with 48 hours to completion, I wondered if there was light at the end of the tunnel.

I knew there was….. but was it going to be an on-coming freight train?

Thoughts like this can creep in after 22 days of constant troubleshooting and remodeling.

Have you ever had someone repeat back to you what you just said, and it sounded stupid?

I just had that happen to me recently. My wife Deborah and I were at a dinner party with new friends and one of the guests asked me why we moved to Maui.

I replied with ” after a decade of craziness on the mainland we decided to move to Maui, relax, and open Maui Extreme Makeovers”.

What was I thinking?

In any case, it is what it is and we’re moving forward.

This project was not without it’s anxious moments, but once again we overcame and met the deadline.

Every project has it’s challenges but this one had our head scratching a little more than normal.

A 40 year old concrete building with sub standard electrical and plumbing. The unit was also only 700 sq. ft., which also compounded the challenges.

As usual, we put a professional crew together, worked as a team, and completed another makeover on Maui.

My philosophy in remodeling is that the finished product should not look like an add-on. I believe we accomplished this.

By the way, the job location helped reduce some of the stress. There is something about a tropical breeze and an ocean view that just makes it seem easier.

Thanks to the crew for making it happen, and special thanks to the homeowners.
